How We Approach Every Matter
Regardless of which service applies to your situation, the way we work remains the same. We start by listening — understanding the family situation, the assets involved, and what the client hopes to achieve. Only then do we explain the legal options in plain language and let you decide how to proceed.
Documents are drafted accurately and reviewed before execution. All correspondence with courts, financial institutions, and beneficiaries is handled by the assigned solicitor. Progress is confirmed in writing at each stage so you are never left wondering where things stand.
Fees are disclosed in writing before any work begins. If the scope changes, we discuss it openly before proceeding further. There are no surprises at the end of an engagement.
Initial Consultation
We listen, ask questions, and explain the relevant law and your options — no commitment required at this stage.
Fee Disclosure
A written fee estimate is provided before any work begins. You decide whether to proceed.
Instruction and Drafting
We take your instructions in detail, prepare documents, and review them before presenting for your approval.
Execution and Filing
Documents are executed correctly, filed where required, and confirmed to you in writing once complete.
SERVICE ONE
Will Preparation
A will is the clearest way to record your wishes for how your estate should be handled after your death. Legasi Chambers drafts wills carefully, in language that is precise enough to be legally sound and plain enough for you and your family to read with confidence.
We take time to understand your family circumstances, any particular concerns, and the assets you wish to address. The draft is reviewed with you before execution, and you are under no pressure to sign until you are satisfied with the document.
- Compliant with the Wills Act 1959
- Named executor and alternative executor
- Guardianship provisions for minor children
- Specific and residuary bequests addressed
- Secure copy held by the firm
SERVICE TWO
Probate & Administration
When someone passes away, their estate cannot be dealt with until the appropriate court order is obtained — either a grant of probate (where a valid will exists) or letters of administration (where there is none). Legasi Chambers manages this process from start to close.
We handle all court applications, corresponding with financial institutions, land offices, and beneficiaries as needed. Families are kept informed at each step without being overwhelmed. Costs are explained openly from the outset.
- Probate application and estate administration
- Letters of administration for intestate estates
- Correspondence with courts and institutions
- Transfer of property and bank accounts
- Regular written updates to the family
SERVICE THREE
Estate Planning & Trusts
Estate planning is the process of thinking ahead — considering how your assets should be held, managed, and passed on during your lifetime and after it. Trusts can form part of that planning where they are suitable, providing a structure for assets to be managed for beneficiaries over time.
This is a patient service. We explain the available structures clearly, discuss how each one would operate in your situation, and leave you to decide at your own pace. There is no standard solution — the right approach depends on your family, your assets, and your intentions.
- Comprehensive estate planning review
- Trust structures explained and drafted where suitable
- Provisions for dependants and minor children
- Business succession considerations
- Coordination with your will
